Brayman-Beach Scholarship deadline March 31, 2010

The Brayman-Beach College Scholarship is named in honor of two visionary leaders in the credit union movement, Susan J. Brayman and Carroll D. Beach.  This scholarship is awarded to credit union members who are pursuing an undregraduate degree in business.  One $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually.

WSCU funds are fully insured by NCUA

Lately, local and national news sources have reported about the problems concerning the national financial system and the economic condition of the United States.  Wall Street is experiencing major drops as large financial institutions are failing, and people are worried.  If you are wondering how WSCU fits into this financial mess, you should know you have nothing to worry about.

WSCU is financially sound

Our assets are increasing, our capital is strong and our loan losses are still extremely low.  After 72 continuous years of operation we're still going strong thanks to your support.

In addition, the overall credit union movement is also healthy and strong.  This is partly due to the fact that credit unions typically lend more responsibly than banks.  As a result, credit unions have steered clear of the subprime mortgage mess.

Your funds are federally insured

WSCU is federally insured by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) and your funds are insured to at least $100,000 ($250,000 for some retirement accounts.)   Due to current economic conditions, insurance coverage for all types of accounts has been increased to $250,000 until December 31, 2009. 

Please remember: WSCU Money Fund Accounts are included in this insurance coverage.  There is no need to withdrawal or move any of your money from a Money Fund Account.  Every type of account at WSCU is federally insured by the NCUA.

We have formed an education and literacy partnership with a nationally known group of consumer advocates to deliver high-quality, free financial education and literacy programs to everyone.

FoolProof Solo teaches a college-age person, or even older adults with limited financial knowledge about the realities of money and credit. The modules are tough, interactive and interesting.

FoolProof for Parents and Grandparents involves parents and grandparents in their children’s financial education. All can be done at home, all web-driven, and taught by young people with whom kids can relate. These highly interactive ‘modules’ run about 45 minutes each, feature videos, music, and games. Each module concludes with a test and the results come directly to you, the parent or grandparent.

FoolProof’s CUHQ, a year-round, interactive website for young people ties everything together with great information that relates to what is taught in the FoolProof modules.
